Olivia's Cause My 10 year old daughter, Olivia has alopecia areata. It is an auto-immune disease that causes hair loss. She lost all of her hair for the first time at age 2, just after her childhood vaccines. By age 4 she had regrown all of her hair, but unfortunately last year she lost all of it again. This time she lost her eyebrows and eyelashes, too. In the last eight years I have learned a lot about her condition. Over 4 million people in the United States have alopecia areata. There is no cure and treatments are of little or no help. I became involved with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (www.naaf.org) and I am currently the support group leader for Indiana. I am very proud of Olivia and how she handles her condition. She has decided not to wear a wig, which she calls .... 'going el natural'. Olivia earns excellent grades and has a lot of friends. Her alopecia does not stop her from doing anything that she wants to do. She is a great role model for others with alopecia. We recently created "what do YOU see? designs". The name comes from what we experience with people that we meet. (What do you see, when you see a bald person?) Within the ink blot designs, that we created, people see different images. We have printed the designs on tee shirts and are selling them from this site. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each shirt will be donated to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Through their research, hopefully one day they will find a cure..... Thank you for your support, Sandy Rusk Contact Us: (317) 523-3019 www.whatdoyouseedesigns.com
